Seriously, what can possibly posses someone to upload a picture of their period blood?

It’s natural?

You’re proud of it?

Well isn’t that all well and good.

Tomorrow morning, how many of you would like it if I just snapped a pic of my morning deuce and posted it here for everyone to see?

Don’t be ignorant. It’s a natural part of the cycle my body goes through and I’m proud of it.

I’m fed up of seeing shit like this. There is a massive difference between period blood and your “morning deuce”. 

Right from the menarche, even before, people who experience menstruation are made to feel like it is a dirty thing that should be hidden from the world. Society teaches us that our periods are unhygienic and disgusting. 

Products are made that distance us from our bodies and our blood. Products that actually do harm to us. We are constantly told we need to clean it up, make it smell better, scented tampons, douches. 

And god forbid we actually let people know that we’re bleeding. No it must be secret and hidden. Tampons and pads, wrapped in plastic and quickly put in the bin.   

For a person to overcome all those years of social conditioning. To unlearn all the bullshit and realise that there is nothing wrong with their blood, that actually there can be something pretty fucking wondrous about it, is a massive, massive thing. If they want to share that IN THEIR OWN SPACE they should be free to fucking do so!

^Basically. No, i’m not my period’s biggest fan, but that’s because of the pain, the mess, the overall physical discomfort i experience. But that is completely different than the societal bullshit that tells you that you are dirty because of your body’s natural function. That there’s somehow something wrong with you if you own a vagina & if it goes through its normal paces. That “Mother Nature’s gift” is “bad” & horrible. If you think it sucks because it takes a massive toll on you, then fine. If you think it’s gross & dirty & wrong & shameful & that other people should be shamed by it, then you have a problem. You need to look at your own internalized sexism & stop deriding other people & their bodies for being fucking human.
