Um. Well. First, for people talking solely about deforestation: there’s no trees out on the plains, i don’t think, unless people themselves have planted them there.
Also, i would question. If these images are from the dates they claim they are, what time during the cycle of the Earth are they taken from? This current year only just started; it’s winter in the Northern Hemisphere. So couldn’t the majority of the country look brown & dead from a distance? The only green areas are in more “tropical” areas, or places where evergreens would be present. Notice the tilt: is that the Earth’s tilt or the tilt of the camera angle? If the former, it would reenforce the idea of the right image being a wintertime image. But has anyone recently taken a picture of the Earth from space? And i would personally not put it past someone to play with things in something like Photoshop, where you can alter things radically.
Ultimately, yes, i do think humans are harming the Earth, & i think we need to be aware of that & do what we can to counteract it, even if it’s by baby steps, or else. I’m not refuting that point at all. But, in the case of this image, i think it needs to be taken with a grain of salt, unless someone can produce legitimate, untampered images. It’s good to raise awareness & get people to help the Earth, but i think it’s dangerous to not think critically & examine some points that may be suspect when presented with images or things stated as fact that are just floating around on the internet.
